If your window treatments provide good insulation, it adds more value to for the next owner as they will benefit from the money saved on energy costs.

In addition, some window treatment products now come with certification statements that make them eligible for tax credits. So, in addition to giving the home more value for the buyer, installing energy efficient treatments can benefit you financially.

Another way your window treatments can make an impression is by the amount of natural light they let in the house. Natural light can make a home look very attractive to potential buyers, so if you don’t have window treatments that let in a decent amount of it, make sure to open them when the house is being shown. Soft window treatments like white sheers can also let light through even when they are closed. This can be another big selling point as the new owners can still have the privacy they desire while letting natural light into the house.

The look of the window treatments themselves is another important factor to consider. Drapes or curtains can give any room in your house a more elegant feel depending on the fabric you choose, but always remember to go with neutral colors so that they can easily match the next owner’s personal décor. You can even give simpler window treatments like roman shades or faux woods blinds that extra boost they need to stand out by adding a valance or cornice board to the top.
