How To Pick the Right Carpeting
By acarmen1Carpeting can be a great addition to any room. It is warm, soft and comfortable among other things. Not to mention that it can absorb sound better than any other type of flooring. Picking the right carpet for your home or office is not all that easy though. While you may tend to look at factors such as price and color, there are other things to consider if you want to end up with carpeting that will last long.
Fibers or what material the carpet is made of can be important when picking a carpet. Natural fibers are can be used; these are the softest of all materials but they are also very expensive. Wool and silk are some natural fiber used in making carpets. Some carpet makers blend natural and synthetic fibers together to make the carpeting more affordable.
There are more types of fibers used for synthetic carpets; the most common of which is nylon which can be more affordable and stain resistant as compared to others. Olefin, acrylic and polyester are other synthetic materials used. Among these polyester can be more expensive and can have a softer, wool-like feel as compared to the others.
Installing a carpet is fairly easy and can be done on almost any surface, save for one that already has an existing carpet. Whether you are installing the carpet yourself or getting it installed by a professional make sure that the area is well ventilated; the fumes from the glue can be quite strong and irritating as well.
Making sure that your carpet lasts long enough will have to do with properly cleaning and maintaining it. Be sure that you vacuum it once a week to avoid dirt and dust build up. You may also wet clean it every few months to make sure that you get odor and stains out. It can also be smart to have your carpeting professionally cleaned every eighteen to twenty four months which can prolong its warranty as well.
